Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Hugo Prione Duarte (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Company”) operates the RingDay App (the “App”), available on iOS, iPadOS and macOS, and on Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the App and our commitment to protecting your privacy. Where the App works differently on Apple devices and on Android, this Policy says so.

Privacy is a core principle of the App. Your health, contraception and cycle data never leave your devices, except in your own backups (your iCloud account on Apple devices, your Google account on Android) or in an export you choose to create and share. On Apple devices, to understand how the App is used and improve it, the App shares a small amount of anonymous usage data, described in Section 3; you can turn this off at any time. The Android App shares no usage data.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We never collect:

  • Personal identification information (name, email address, phone number). The App has no account to create.
  • Your health, contraception or cycle data of any kind: ring dates, reminders, notes, Symptoms & Moods (including any custom tag names you create), or anything read from or written to Apple Health
  • Your location
  • Advertising identifiers: neither the IDFA on Apple devices nor the Android advertising ID. The App does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, never asks for tracking permission, and contains no ads.

All data related to your ring schedule, cycle history, notes, Symptoms & Moods and reminder preferences is stored on your device, and in your own backups if you use them (Section 6). We have no access to any of it.

3. Anonymous Usage Data (Apple devices only)

This section applies to the App on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Android App sends no usage data and contains no analytics service.

What is shared. The only analytics the App collects is how you use it. Unless you turn it off, the App sends these events:

  • which onboarding setup steps you reach, and whether you finish setup;
  • when the Premium screen is shown, and where in the App it was opened from;
  • whether you subscribe, and to which plan (monthly or annual);
  • which Premium features you open;
  • subscription renewals, cancellations, billing problems, expirations and refunds, and how many periods a subscription has run.

Each event carries:

  • whether you are a Premium subscriber, and your plan;
  • the App’s version;
  • the country of your App Store account (not a location read from your device);
  • the time of the event.

How it is identified. Events carry a random identifier created by the App on your device. It is not derived from your device, your Apple Account or anything about you. It is not synced to your other devices, and it is replaced with a new, unrelated one whenever you turn sharing off. We do not create a user profile, and the data is not linked to your identity.

What is never shared: your health data, ring dates, notes, Symptoms & Moods, or anything you type into the App. We cannot see this data either: it stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account.

When it starts. For new users, the setup-step events are sent from the first setup screen. The last setup screen explains this data and lets you turn it off before you continue. Users who installed the App before this change see a one-time notice, and nothing is sent for them until they have seen it.

How to turn it off. Turn off Share Anonymous Usage Data on the last setup screen or at any time in Settings › Privacy. Turning it off stops all sharing immediately: events not yet sent are deleted from your device, and nothing is sent from then on.

Who processes it. Usage data is processed on our behalf by PostHog Inc., using its EU Cloud (data hosted in the European Union). The App asks PostHog not to look up a location from your IP address, and our PostHog project is set to discard IP addresses, so they are not stored. PostHog processes the data only to provide the analytics service to us.

Why. We use this data only to understand where people stop during setup, how the Premium offer performs, and why subscriptions end, so we can improve the App. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never combined with data from other companies. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the App, and you can object at any time by turning sharing off.

How long it is kept. Usage data is kept in PostHog for as long as it is useful for these purposes, and for no more than 7 years, after which it is deleted.

4. App Store Connect and Google Play Console

We also receive aggregated, non-personal statistics from Apple’s App Store Connect and Google’s Play Console: general usage and sales statistics, App performance metrics, crash reports without personal identifiers, and App version and device type information. Apple and Google provide this information, and it does not identify you individually.

5. Third-Party Services

  • PostHog (EU Cloud), on Apple devices only, for the anonymous usage data described in Section 3.
  • Google Play Billing, on Android only, for subscriptions (Section 8).

The App contains no advertising SDKs, and we do not share data with advertisers, data brokers or marketing companies.

6. Data Storage and Security

  • On-Device Storage: your ring schedule, cycle history, notes, Symptoms & Moods and reminder preferences remain stored on your device.
  • iCloud Synchronization (Apple devices): the App supports iCloud synchronization to sync your data across your Apple devices. Apple’s iCloud service manages this synchronization entirely. We have no access to your iCloud data and do not store it on any server.
  • Android Backup and Device Transfer: if you use Android backup, Android copies your RingDay history (including your notes and Symptoms & Moods) and display preferences to your own Google account, encrypted on your device when you have a screen lock (on Android 8 without a screen lock, Android’s backup is not end-to-end encrypted). When you move to a new phone with Android’s device-to-device transfer, the same data is copied directly to that phone. We never receive this backup. A copy stays in your Google account after you uninstall RingDay, until Google’s backup service lets it expire or you delete it there. App Lock settings and reminder alarms are not backed up. Your Premium purchase is held by Google Play, not in the backup: RingDay’s own record of your Premium status comes back with your data and is checked with Google Play again when you open RingDay. Reminders resume when you first open RingDay on the new phone.
  • App Lock (Android): the fingerprint or screen-lock check is performed by Android; RingDay never sees or stores your fingerprint or PIN.
  • Provider Export (Android): the summary you can create for your healthcare provider is generated on your device and leaves it only if you choose to share it.
  • No Server Infrastructure of Our Own: we do not run any servers or databases that store user information. Anonymous usage data from Apple devices is held only by PostHog, as described in Section 3.

Your data is protected by your device’s security features and by the encryption of your iCloud or Google account backups.

7. Data Retention

Your ring schedule, cycle history, notes and Symptoms & Moods remain under your control on your device and in your own backups; we never hold them. On Android, uninstalling RingDay or using Erase all content in the App removes them from the device; a copy in your Google account backup is kept as described in Section 6. Anonymous usage data from Apple devices is retained as described in Section 3. Unsent events are deleted from your device as soon as you turn sharing off.

8. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

RingDay offers an optional Premium subscription. The free version of RingDay is fully functional for tracking a single ring and contains no advertisements.

On iPhone, iPad and Mac

Premium has two billing options:

  • Monthly Premium — US$0.99 per month
  • Annual Premium — US$9.99 per year (approximately US$0.83 per month)

Both tiers unlock the same set of premium features. Subscriptions support Family Sharing, so a single subscription can be shared with up to five family members through Apple’s Family Sharing setup.

Premium adds expanded cycle history, multi-month calendar view, cycle statistics, custom notification sounds, app icon options, and multiple ring profiles.

Payments are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. Apple collects and processes payment information according to its own privacy terms — we do not have access to your payment information, your credit card details, or your transaction history. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period; you can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your iOS Account Settings or via Apple’s Subscriptions page (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions).

On Android

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play, and their prices are shown in Google Play before you subscribe. Google collects and processes payment information according to its own privacy terms; we do not have access to your payment details. The Google Play Billing library keeps a small diagnostics store on your device and sends Google information needed to operate purchases. It contains no cycle or ring data, and we do not use it for analytics or advertising. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in the Google Play Store (Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).

9. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). The anonymous usage data in Section 3 does not identify anyone. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us immediately.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the rights to access, delete, object and opt out:

  • Right to Opt-Out / Object: on Apple devices, turn off Share Anonymous Usage Data in Settings › Privacy at any time. The Android App shares no usage data.
  • Right to Access and Deletion: usage data is anonymous and tied only to a random identifier that we cannot link to you, so we usually cannot find “your” records. Turning sharing off resets that identifier, and you may contact us with any request.
  • Health and cycle data: these never leave your device and your own backups, so they remain entirely under your control.

11. Compliance with Regulations

We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws and regulations, including:

  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) for users in the European Union
  • CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) for users in California
  • LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados) for users in Brazil
  • Other applicable privacy laws globally

We minimize what is collected, keep usage data anonymous and EU-hosted, and let you turn sharing off at any time. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the App following the posting of revised Privacy Policy means you accept and agree to the changes.

14. International Data Transfers

Anonymous usage data from Apple devices is hosted by PostHog in the European Union. Your ring, cycle and health data remain on your device and in your own backups: your iCloud account under Apple’s data processing terms, or your Google account under Google’s.

15. Your Responsibilities

To maintain the privacy of your App data:

  • Keep your device secure with a strong passcode, screen lock or biometric authentication
  • Maintain your iCloud or Google account security with a strong password
  • Review Apple’s or Google’s privacy and security practices for their backup services

By using the RingDay App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
